Tutorial written by Kissing Kate on 21st October 2013

**this is a technique tutorial rather than a tag tutorial **

This tutorial is my own original work and any similarities with any other tutorial are coincidental and unintentional.

Anyone with a good basic working knowledge of PS CS5 should be able to follow this tutorial. Please feel free to get creative when following this tutorial, it is for guidance only!

Please do not claim this tutorial as your own. Anyone is welcome to use it and I would love to see your results. If you would like to share it in a group please link back to my blog.

Today we are going to be making this word siggy:

Supplies:

Cotton Eyed Country Scrap Kit HERE
Darlene tube by Verymany HERE
Magnum font HERE

Feel free to use any tube and any scrapkit to suit your style!!

So open up a new file 600 x 200 pixels and fill white so you can see what you are doing.

Add a new layer  (Text layer) and click on your text tool.  Now choose a wide font - I used Magnum - to write out the word or name you want as your signature - mine is country to suit the tag.  Make the text size approx 36.

Right click on this text layer to get your blending options up on screen. I used the following settings:

Drop Shadow - Normal Blend Mode - Foreground colour black - Opacity 96 - distance 2 - size 3

Bevel - Inner Bevel - Depth 42% - Size 2

Stroke - Colour #bb0545 - Size 2 - opacity 63%

Now add a new layer (paper layer) and place paper 6 (or paper of choice).  Right click on this layer and 'create clipping mask'.. your paper will now be inside the text.  Now right click for the blending modes again and click on Bevel - Texture - choose a basic crosshatch style texture - Scale 1 - Depth 5 just to give the paper some detail.

Now in a new window open up your chosen tube and delete the layers you don't need.  The close up of the tube works well for this tut.  When you have what you need, select all - edit - copy - go back to the other window and paste the tube.  Now right click and 'create clipping mask'.  Resize the tube (making sure you hold shift while doing so to make sure you don't stretch the tube out of proportion) so it fits well inside the text.  You don't want details of her face getting hidden as to look odd.. move it around so it looks nice.  you can then duplicate this tube so you can have it inside the text a few times. I did it so there were 3 faces inside the text, each time angling her a little different to add some variety.

Now I added the words 'Girl at Heart' using the same font as before.. and place it over the word country.  Sometimes PS likes to guess what you want to do and it might also clip this layer.. don't panic. If it does this just right click and release the clipping mask.

Now use some of the elements from the scrap kit to decorate your word signature.  Add drop shadows to the elements to make them more realistic.

Now all you need to do is add your name and the correct copyright.

Delete the white background layer - save as a PNG image and you are finished.

Thank you for following this tutorial.  I would love to see what you have done with it.

If there is any other kind of basic tutorial you would like to see done, just drop me a message and I will try and do one for you!

Much Love, Cat xx
